“The Hotel Kuntur Wassi is a new place built on the hill, come 80m above the plaza; it has fine views right across the canyon to the Huaro waterfall, and the attractive rooms are laid out in an unusual way, clinging to the hill and incorporating some natural rock features and unusual domed roofs; it also has a restaurant and bar as well as solar water heating.”
“This hotel is arguably the best spot in town, in an attractive building surrounded by pretty garden. Close to the Plaza de Armas in Cabanaconde, the hotel has 24 rooms split across six terraces or levels. From the upper levels there is a great view over the town. If you fancy a splurge, stay in a suite where you will have amenities such as a Jacuzzi and mini-bar. The hotel offers room heating and 24-hours hot water-a blessing at this altitude. The restaurant serves Peruvian and international food, and an American-style breakfast is offered. The hotel provides a plethora of services, including room service, bar, parking, auditorium, library, video library, telephone, internet, safe luggage store and laundry. Taxes are included in the prices, and the hotel takes all major credit cards.”
“This charming upmarket hotel is built into the hillside above town, with stone bathrooms, trapezoidal windows overlooking the gardens and a nouveau-rustic feel. Suites boast enormous bathtubs. There’s also a bar, restaurant, library, laundry and foreign-currency exchange. In low season prices may drop significantly.”
Kuntur Wassi: C Cruz Blanca s/n, on the hill above the plaza. Excellent 3-star hotel with parking, $ in low season, breakfast included and fine traditional meals on request. Creative design with rooms spaced between rock gardens and waterfalls. 'Viewing tower' and conference centre above. Good views of the valley everywhere, and owners Walter and María very welcoming and knowledgeable about local hikes. Recommended.
